Now in its ninth year, ROAR For Autism is a 25-mile bike ride, 5k run, and a low-mileage family walk. Culminating in a family fun festival it is all organized to raise funds for Kennedy Krieger Institute’s autism research and treatment programs. This year’s event is on Sunday, April 28, 2013. It gives participants a unique opportunity to join together to help fight this complex, life-altering disorder.

Get Active for Autism

25 Mile-Bike Ride
Participants can opt for a 25-mile ride through some of Baltimore County’s most scenic neighborhoods. Two rest stops will be available along the course for riders who need water breaks, and bike repair services will be on the courses for any unforeseen mishaps.All riders start and end at Oregon Ridge Park in Cockeysville. Check-in and registration starts at 6:30 a.m., and the ride begins at 7:00 a.m. All riders must be on the course by 8:00 a.m.

5K Run/Walk Race
Participants can also opt to participate in the inaugural partial road partial cross country 5k run/walk. The 5k race will start on the pavement on Beaver Dam Road (approximately 1 mile), going towards Oregon Ridge’s Nature Center, and finishing running across the park’s grassy fields. There will be a water stop at the halfway point. Awards will be given to the top three overall males and females, and the first place males and females in the following age groups: 10 and under; 11-15; 16-19; 20-29; 30-39; 40-49; 50-59; 60-69; 70 and over. Check-in and registration start at 7:00 a.m. A warm-up session lead by FX Studios will begin at 8:00 a.m. —followed by the race start at 8:30 a.m.

Low Mileage Fun Walk
Our new low mileage fun walk will begin at 8:45 a.m. and all families are encouraged to participate!. The distance will be less than one mile.

Family Fun Festival for Autism
Whether you want to stop by after your bike ride, run, walk, or spend your whole day at the festival. The Family Fun Festival has something for everyone! The Wegmans Wellness Village will provide an abundance of healthy snacks for all to enjoy. There will be music and children's entertainment including face painting and a balloon artist. Additionally, there will be many children's activities including a coloring station, a bean-bag toss, and oversized croquet. Oregon Ridge Park is home of one of the area's best playgrounds, and some beautiful nature trails you will be able to take advantage during the event. Join us from 9:00 a.m. -12:00 p.m. to experience all the excitement of the Family Fun Festival!

Kooper's Chowhound Burger Wagon & Woody’s Taco Island truck will be onsite this year serving food. Both breakfast and lunch options will be available for purchase. Breakfast will be served from 7:00 a.m. - 10:00 a.m. and lunch will follow from 10:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.

Directions to Oregon Ridge Park.

Packet pickup will be available for all participants at Charm City Run’s Timonium location (2045 York Road Timonium, MD 21093) on Saturday, April 27th from 9:00 a.m.- 3:00 p.m. As well as, onsite at Oregon Ridge Park the morning of the event.
