When is the ROAR for Autism?
Sunday, April, 28th 2013. Check-in and registration begins at 6:30am with different registration and start times for the variety of events please see the day of schedule to plan accordingly.

What is the best way to get to Oregon Ridge Park?
Do to road closure on Beaver Dam Road we are recommending that people arrive at Oregon Ridge Park by using the following directions. Please allow extra time for traffic delays.
Coming from the North
Take exit 20A for Shawan Rd E toward Cockeysville. Merge onto Shawan Road. At the first traffic light turn right onto McCormick Road. Turn Right onto Beaver Dam Road (cross over I-83) and Oregon Ridge Park will be on your left.
Coming from the South
Take I-83 to Exit 18 Warren Road. At the first light turn left onto Beaver Dam Road. At the next light make another left to remain on Beaver Dam Road (cross over I-83) and Oregon Ridge Park will be on your left.
When will Beaver Dam Road be closed?
Beaver Dam Road will be closed from Oregon Ridge Park to Shawan Road from approximately 8:25 a.m.- 9:10 a.m.
Where is the ride?
The ride starts and ends at Oregon Ridge Park in Cockeysville. Ride routes travel through the scenic countryside of Baltimore County.
What if I don't have a bike?
New this year, we are hosting a partial road partial cross country 5krun/walk, as well as a low-mileage family walk you can participate in at ROAR for Autism.
You can still participate by renting a bike. Contact Princeton Sports (410-828-1127) and inform them that you will be participating in Kennedy Krieger Institute’s ROAR for Autism, and they will be happy to assist you in the rental of a bike for the event.
Not interested in walking or running? You can always choose to sleep in and Snore for ROAR!
What if I just want to come to enjoy the festivities? Do I still have to pay?
Yes, although you will not be biking, running, or walking, a registration fee will still be charged for individuals who wish to participate in festival activities.
Who does ROAR For Autism benefit?
Registration, sponsorship fees and donations will support autism research and treatment programs at Kennedy Krieger Institute.
What should I bring to the event if I'm biking?
- Helmet: If you are biking for ROAR, you must bring a helmet. Helmets will not be provided by Oregon Ridge or Kennedy Krieger Institute. Individuals not wearing the proper head protection will not be allowed to participate in the event.
- Cell Phone: If you are biking for ROAR, we suggest you bring a cell phone with you. We will provide you with a number to call in case of an emergency during the bike ride.
- Layers: Weather is unpredictable, so please come prepared. Be aware that while the event does start at 6:00 a.m., it will warm up as the day continues. Be sure to wear layers to ensure you are comfortable throughout the event. Please note that ROAR will be held rain or shine. Check the weather report the night before, and bring rain gear if necessary.
- Registration Fee: If you are registering on site to participate in ROAR, don’t forget to bring your registration fee with you. Please be aware that there is a $5.00 price difference between the advanced registration fee and day of registration fee.
- Offline Donations: Make sure to bring all offline monetary donations that you have collected through your fundraising efforts and the offline donation form listing all offline donations. You will need to turn these in upon check-in at the event.

- Shoes: Please wear appropriate shoes. The race is a partial road/partial cross country race. Your feet may get wet; please bring approaiate change of shoes and socks if necessary.
- Layers: Weather is unpredictable, so please come prepared. Be aware that while the event does start at 6:00 a.m., it will warm up as the day continues. Be sure to wear layers to ensure you are comfortable throughout the event. Please note that ROAR For Autism will be held rain or shine. Are dogs allowed at the event?
No, dogs are not allowed at the event.
Can I use a stroller in the 5k race?
If you feel comfortable with having your stroller on a grassy field surface you are welcome to participate in the event with your stroller.
Can I wear headphones or earbuds in the 5k race?
Headphones and earbuds are not permited on the 5k course. Please do not bring them with you the day of the event.
Where will the water stop be located on the 5k course?
We will have 1 water stop on the course; it will be located at the midway point.
How long is the low-mileage family fun walk?
This walk is under 1 mile in distance.

How do I register online?
Click here to access the online registration form. You will want to have the following information on hand when you start the registration process:
- Team name (If you are joining or creating a team)
- Names of all participants you are registering
- T-shirt sizes for all participants
- Valid credit card for payment of registration fees
- Billing address for credit card
Do I have to register online to participate in ROAR For Autism?
No, you can also register by mail, fax ,or email. Print and complete registration form sending the form back to Kennedy Krieger Institute with your payment by April 25, 2012.

What is an individual goal?
We encourage all participants to fundraise before the day of the event. Your individual goal is the amount of money that you hope to raise for ROAR For Autism. This goal is completely personal, so you can set it as high or as low as you want.
Is it possible to join/switch teams after I have already registered for ROAR For Autism?
Yes, even if you registered to participate as an individual or as part of another team, you will always have the opportunity to join/switch teams. Simply call the Kennedy Krieger Institute at 443-923-7300 or e-mail roar@kennedykrieger.org, and they will assist in placing you on your desired team for ROAR.
I have already registered for ROAR For Autism as an individual but now I want to join/create a team?
If you registered to participate as an individual, you will always have the opportunity to become/ create a team. Simply call the Kennedy Krieger Institute at 443-923-7300 or e-mail roar@kennedykrieger.org, and they will assist in placing you on your desired team for ROAR.
I participated in ROAR For Autism previously. How do I go about registering this year?
If you participated in ROAR 2011 or 2012 you can use the same user name and password to sign in this year.
Everyone else needs to create a new user name and password, regardless of whether you participated in ROAR For Autism any years previous to 2011. Please select New User when prompted.
Why does my ROAR For Autism fundraising page say 2011 on it?
If you are a returning participant, your personal fundraising page will have the date of the first year you participated in ROAR For Autism. We recommend that you update your personal page to represent the correct date (April 28, 2013) for ROAR for Autism 2013.
Am I guaranteed a t-shirt with registration?
All participants that register by Wednesday, April 10, 2013 are guaranteed a t-shirt. We cannot guarantee a t-shirt to anybody who registers after that.
I registered to SNORE for ROAR, but have not recived my t-shirt. When should I expect it?
All t-shirts for SNORE for ROAR participants will be mailed out the week after the event takes place.
FUNDRAISING FAQS
How can I increase my fundraising goal?
Log into your participant center, and at the top right corner, you will see a box titled “Your Goal”. Simply type in your new goal amount and hit update. Your website will now display a new goal, and your thermometer will adjust accordingly.
How do I resize my pictures for my fundraising web page?
In order to upload photos to your website, they must be 200kb or less. Make sure to check the size of your photos before uploading, and if necessary, re-size them in your photo editor program to the correct amount. You can also resize photos at www.picresize.com If you need assistance resizing your photos, please send an email to roar@kennedykrieger.org
What does it mean to be a team captain?
Team captains are responsible for editing their team page. Click on 'My Team' from your participant center to add information about your team for your donors to read.
