To protect the health of our community, we've gone virtual!

As a result of the COVID-19 outbreak and to keep our community safe, ROAR for Kids 2020 is now a virtual fundraiser instead of being held at its original location at Oregon Ridge Park.

Award for Youth Fundraiser

Are you participating in ROAR for Kids and flexing your fundraising muscles by soliciting for donations? If not get started now in order to be entered into The Cara Becker ROAR for Kids Youth Fundraising Award. You could be this year's winner!

Kennedy Krieger Institute is looking forward to awarding the ROAR for Kids Cara Becker Youth Fundraising Award to a hardworking fundraiser this year. This award was named after Cara Becker, who was a longtime fundraiser, volunteer, and friend to the event.Cara was diagnosed with leukemia in 2012 at the age of 21. Before her diagnosis, Cara became actively involved with Kennedy Krieger Institute's ROAR event by securing the event's raffle prizes for many years and selling hundreds of raffle tickets prior to the event. "I am involved because I love helping others," she once said. "It makes me so happy to help people who can't help themselves."  Cara passed away four months after receiving her diagnosis. She will forever be remembered as a great friend to Kennedy Krieger Institute and for all the lives she touched through her fundraising and volunteer efforts.

The ROAR for Kids Cara Becker Youth Fundraising Award will be given to the child or adolescent (18 or younger) who best encompasses Cara’s spirit through fundraising initiatives. The award will be presented to the individual who raises the most funds (through individual or team fundraising pages) by Friday, April 24, 2020. The winner will be announced the next day on April 25, 2020 as we ROAR for Kids virtually and will be mailed a commemorative plaque.
